"Shelter" at Calgary Horror Con

"Shelter" will be screening at Calgary Horror Con in August.

Canada and horror - two words that don't normally go together in my mind, but I am grateful!

This year, Horror Con welcomes Lloyd Kaufman, creator of such films as Toxic Avenger and Nuke 'Em High.

Viscera Film Festival

"Shelter" accepted for the Viscera Film Festival tour.

The kick-off event with 'red carpet' interviews was held at Grauman's Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The festival was beautifully run by the Mistresses of Horror Alliance, with networking events for the filmmakers before and after, and all logistics handled gracefully.
There was a strong Canadian contingent and it was neat to meet so many filmmakers from next door!

Viscera is a touring operation - they partner with other festivals which pick and choose from their slate. So, there is a multiplier effect for submissions, and potentially more acceptances to come for Shelter.

I recommend Viscera to women filmmakers with an interest in 'genre' work.
[It's not just for women, by the way - see their guidelines - the idea is to encourage women to take responsible and leadership positions.]
